Zoe’s Kitchen Fundraiser for Owen Looper

February 28, 2018 @ 4:30 pm - 8:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 4:30pm, repeating until February 28, 2018

Owen Looper spent a lot of his childhood in Broken Arrow before finishing high school in Fairland. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and working on his truck. In fact, his love for trucks led him to the diesel mechanic program at Northeast Tech. He dreamed of a future in that industry.

A graduate of the Class of 2017, Owen was looking at a bright future. On November 3, 2017, that future took a very bad turn. Owen was brutally attacked by a classmate and sustained severe injuries, which have left him paralyzed from the neck down.

After multiple surgeries and a stay in ICU, Owen was transferred to Denver Craig Hospital in Colorado, for 12 weeks of spinal cord rehabilitation. He is working to gain use of his hands, and be able to transfer himself in and out of a wheelchair unassisted.

In the meantime, Owen’s mother Jennifer Delamatter, and his stepfather Rex are converting their garage into an apartment where Owen can live. A GoFundMe has been set up to allow others to donate to that project.

Friends have set up a GoFundMe account, and Owen’s father, John Looper, said the donations coming in are being used for Owen’s future needs and to buy lumber and construction materials for Owen’s apartment. You can donate online HERE!

Another way that you can help is by dining at Zoe’s Kitchen on February 27 or 28. Mention Owen’s name between 4:30p – 8p and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Owen for his rehabilitation expenses.

All Tulsa-area Zoe’s Kitchen locations are participating. They are located at:
Kingspointe Village, 61st & Yale
Tulsa Hills, 7427 S. Olympia Ave.
10005 S. Memorial
3629 S. Peoria

On that note, Zoe’s Kitchen is planning to open a location in Broken Arrow! Stay tuned to moreBA for details!

To follow Owen’s progress, and send him messages of encouragement, a Facebook page and blog has been set up, ‘Owen’s Journey.’
