FREE Fun Classes for Kids in Broken Arrow!

If you’re looking for some fun, free activities for the kids this summer, check out the Dig with a Dietitian classes with Heather Steele. The classes are held at the Broken Arrow Community Garden at BA Neighbors. Space is limited, so be sure to register online today!

H2O and Beyond:

Thursday, June 14th at 2:00 pm

Location: Broken Arrow Community Garden – BA Neighbors

About: FREE 1 hour nutrition and gardening class and activity. During this class participants will learn about the importance of water in our ecosystem, garden, and bodies. Everyone will get to learn about why water is so important to life, how different soils drain and retain water, and how water flows and recycles through our environment. Participants will get to help water the garden and play an activity representing how water moves through different types of soil.

 

Summertime Seeds & Fruits:

Friday, July 20th at 3:00 pm

Location: Broken Arrow Community Garden – BA Neighbors

About: FREE 1 hour nutrition and gardening class and activity. During this class participants will learn about the all the different kinds of summertime fruits and seeds. We will dive into the different types of fruits grown in the summertime, nutritional benefits of fruits, what makes a fruit a fruit, the different parts of a seed, and examples of different edible and non-edible seeds.

 

Summertime Veggie Patch:

Wednesday, August 8th at 9:30 am

Registration: FREE – Limited to 20 participants – ages 6+. Register online at: www.reasors.com/event

Location: Broken Arrow Community Garden – BA Neighbors

About: FREE 1 hour nutrition and gardening class and activity. During this class participants will learn about the all the different kinds of summertime veggies found in the garden. We will glance around the garden to see what different types of veggies we can find, discuss the nutritional benefits of veggies, and do a painting activity with veggies. Paint will be non-toxic and washable but we still encourage children to dress in clothes they don’t mind getting painted.
