SAT testing will still take place for juniors at Broken Arrow High School

Broken Arrow Public Schools will remain closed Tuesday, April 10, due to the ongoing teacher walkout advocating for more public education funding from the Oklahoma Legislature.

Despite the closure, all juniors are still required to report to Broken Arrow High School Tuesday morning between 7:15 and 7:45 a.m. to take the SAT. Regular school bus routes will run for juniors who usually ride a school bus. Testing will last until at least 1 p.m., and buses will run again to take students home. Students who arrive late will not be allowed into the testing location after the test has begun.

The only juniors who will NOT test Tuesday are students who qualify for testing accommodations. Those students will receive a SchoolMessenger alert with more instructions.

Junior students who normally attend Tulsa Tech or are concurrently enrolled in college classes will be excused from those programs tomorrow and are to report to BAHS to take the SAT.

Students are encouraged to bring a bottle of water and a snack with them as well as a photo ID, at least two No. 2 pencils and a graphing or scientific calculator. Cell phones must be left in the car or left at home or students will be required to turn them off and surrender them to testing monitors.

Due to the teacher walkout, 12-month district employees who have undergone College Board training will administer the exam.

Tuesday’s school closure will need to be made up by either adding a full day to the calendar or by adding minutes to all remaining days. A specific decision on how the missed time will be made up cannot be made until school resumes.

Broken Arrow Public Schools’ child nutrition department will continue feeding students at designated locations and times across Broken Arrow. These meals are free for students 18 and under, however, students must eat their meal at the specified locations.
