Broken Arrow Public Schools will remain closed remainder of the week
District leaders and teachers communicating to determine plan to return to school
Broken Arrow Public Schools will remain closed through Friday, April 6, due to the teacher walkout to advocate for more public education funding from the Oklahoma Legislature.
District leaders are working with teachers to determine a possible date to return to the classroom based on specific actions from legislators.
This week’s closures will exhaust the remaining bad weather days built into the district calendar. If school resumes on Monday, April 9, the last day of school will now be Friday, May 25. If school does not resume on April 9, the district will be forced to add minutes to all remaining school days or add school days to the calendar.
Broken Arrow Public Schools’ child nutrition department will continue feeding students at designated locations and times across Broken Arrow. These meals are free for students 18 and under; however, students must eat their meal at the specified locations.
- Central Park Community Center (1500 S. Main St.) – 11:00 a.m. to noon
- Sequoyah Middle School (2701 S. Elm Pl.) – 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Creekwood Elementary (1301 E. Albany St.) – 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Indian Springs Apartment Complex (2177 W. Jasper St.) – 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
As information becomes available regarding additional days out of school, the district will inform parents as soon as possible through SchoolMessenger, the district website, social media and local news media. Decisions about school closures will be made by 5 p.m. each day.
