Each new year, 1/3 of Americans make a list of resolutions they hope to accomplish such as losing weight, eating better, or getting more sleep. Within six months, more than half have given up. Try these SMART tips to keep on track!
Specific: Rather than saying, ‘I want to lose weight in 2018,’ say ‘I would like to lose five pounds in two months.’
Measurable: Log your progress or track it in a journal.
Achievable: Don’t make your goals too big or unrealistic. Trying to bite off more than you can chew will cause frustration.
Relevant: Work toward goals that matter to you.
Time-bound: Come up with a timeline that will allow you to reach several smaller goals along the way to keep you motivated.
