A Message from Broken Arrow Schools Superintendent

This past week brought much sorrow to the Broken Arrow Public Schools family, as we lost two of our own – high school student Jaymeson West and Oneta Ridge geography teacher Mr. Shane Anderson.

First, I personally want to thank you for your outpouring of love for the district and for the families of Jaymeson and Mr. Anderson. The support we have received from surrounding school districts, various counseling agencies and community partners has been immeasurable. From the numerous phone calls and emails that were received to the number of people who reached out with condolences, thank you.

Although we are grieving, I am incredibly proud of how our students, staff and community have come together in support of each other. I may be biased, but we truly have the most selfless and dedicated employees who care for our students beyond measure. We have the most compassionate students who continue to be there for one another through the good times and the bad. And we have the most giving community members who have wrapped their arms around us without expecting anything in return.

So this is my heartfelt thank you. I know the families and friends of Jaymeson and Mr. Anderson have felt your thoughts and warm wishes, just as we have at Broken Arrow Public Schools.

Warm regards,

Janet C. Dunlop, Ph.D.
